If you’ve ever shopped for mobility equipment before, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced the frustration that exists throughout much of the industry.
You call for a stairlift, scooter, or vehicle lift and immediately get pushed into a high-pressure “free in-home consultation.” Pricing is vague. Questions are avoided. Some companies refuse to discuss even rough pricing ranges over the phone. Others make customers sit through long sales presentations just to get a number.
At The Lift Man, we believe customers deserve better.
Why the Industry Operates This Way
The mobility industry has traditionally relied heavily on commission-based sales models. In many cases, the person entering the home isn’t the installer — they’re a salesperson whose primary goal is to close the deal.
That creates several problems:
- Pricing can vary dramatically between customers
- Customers often feel pressured or rushed
- Equipment recommendations may be based on commission rather than real-world fitment
- Simple projects become overcomplicated
- Customers are left confused about what things should actually cost
Unfortunately, this has given parts of the industry a reputation that can feel more like buying from a used car lot than working with a professional accessibility company.
And when people are making decisions about safety, mobility, and independence, that’s not how the experience should feel.
Our Approach Is Different
At The Lift Man, we believe informed customers make better decisions.
That’s why we work hard to provide straightforward information, realistic pricing expectations, and honest guidance early in the process whenever possible. We believe transparency helps reduce stress and allows customers to focus on finding the right solution — not negotiating against hidden pricing structures.
For many products, we can provide:
- General pricing ranges upfront
- Guidance based on photos and measurements
- Honest conversations about what’s necessary — and what’s not
- Multiple options when available
- Real-world recommendations based on usability and long-term reliability
Our goal is not to “sell” customers something they don’t need. Our goal is to help people safely maintain their independence.
Technology Should Improve the Experience
One of the biggest ways we’re improving the process is through photo and measurement submissions.
For many straight stairlift and vehicle lift projects, customers can send photos, measurements, and information about their equipment before scheduling an in-home visit. This allows our team to begin evaluating compatibility, determine viability, and provide guidance much faster than the traditional sales-heavy model used throughout the industry.
That means:
- Fewer unnecessary appointments
- Faster answers
- Less pressure
- Better preparation
- A smoother customer experience overall
We believe technology should help customers — not complicate the process.
The Lift Man Standard
At the end of the day, mobility equipment is about people. It’s about helping someone safely access their home, travel confidently, or regain freedom they thought they were losing.
That responsibility matters to us.
Every recommendation, installation, and customer interaction is approached with the same mindset that built our company:
Do the job right. Never cut corners. Treat every customer like family.
Because when independence matters, it has to be right the first time.
